Hugs is unique among infant protection systems in that it minimizes the administrative burden needed to provide an effective abduction deterrent. It provides a number of important features such as auto-enrollment and automatic alarms that do not require staff involvement. Functions that do require staff involvement and password authorizations, such as the signing in and out of infants, are implemented in an easy to use fashion. The system can be configured to operate in a number of ways that will readily support a facility's existing security policy, rather than dictate it.
Each Hugs tag is automatically activated by securing the tamperproof strap around an infant's ankle (or wrist). Staff is immediately alerted at the computer console of the newly activated tag, and can enter pertinent information such as names and medical conditions. Infants may be moved freely throughout the protected area without generating an alarm. If an infant with a Hugs tag is brought near an open door an alarm is generated. Alternatively, doors may even be outfitted with magnetic locks that are automatically activated. If an abduction has occurred and the infant has left the safe area, Hugs can be configured to monitor the progress and direction of the abduction in the hospital.
Our staff of access and security specialists has the experience to design and install the following:
Kisses is an optional component of the Hugs System that is designed to assist nursing staff in matching infants with their mothers every time the two are brought together while in the hospital.
By adding Kisses to your Hugs infant protection system, you have an easy, effective and electronic enhancement to manual band-matching systems.
Here’s how it works. Each mother wears a small, comfortable Kisses tag. It is bonded with her infant’s Hugs tag at birth and for the duration of their hospital stay. Every time the two are brought together, an audible signal from the infant’s tag immediately confirms the match or mismatch—even if there are other infants in the room. There’s nothing to visually check or match, just the clear sound of Kisses to ensure you always deliver the right baby to the right mother.
